Drawing & Painting - Pencil Pastel & Watercolour

Can't draw? Want to draw? This is an ideal place to start. On this mixed media course you will be looking at basic drawing and some painting techniques, including simple exercises to develop skills in tone, colour, texture and composition. You will be introduced to various materials such as pencil, charcoal, pastel and watercolour and gain confidence in using these materials. You will be encouraged to take part in group discussions and have access to one to one support. The overall aim is to help you learn some basic and effective techniques through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration.

Entry requirements

Bring whatever drawing materials you may already have purchased, a pad of A4 cartridge paper, a range of pencils (2H to 6B), a putty rubber or plastic eraser for the first session. Instruction on basic materials and what to purchase for the course will be discussed at the first session or if you have any queries before the course starts, please email the tutor on adultlearning@surreycc.gov.uk to discuss materials.
