Active for Life - Shape up and Dance

This Shape up and Dance Dartford is a low to medium impact cardio class, using dance based movements and some resistance equipment to tone and sculpt your body. , , By the end of this course you should be able to:, - Use basic resistance equipment safely, - Perform muscle, strength and endurance exercises, - Locate muscle groups, - Practise cardiovascular moves, - Exercise independently to music with minimal guidance, - Identify specific exercises for personal use outside of the class. , - Recount at least three ways in which exercises can benefit health and wellbeing throughout various life stages., , You will need to be able to follow verbal instructions, observe and copy physical movements and use spatial awareness within a group. Although there is no specific work set outside of the class, students will gain most benefit if exercises are performed regularly and practised between classes, , This is a mixed ability class that is suitable for beginners and people with some experience. , , By the end of this course you should be able to:, Use core muscles effectively, Practise lateral breathing, Perform muscular strength and endurance exercises, Have a working knowledge of how to improve standing posture, Have a working knowledge of how to improve sitting posture, Identify how to work at a comfortable level depending on your own ability, ,

You will need supportive, comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement. Denim jeans, formal trousers, skirts or dress are not suitable for this activity. You should wear shoes with a soft sole. Sandals, boots or any footwear with a high heel are not recommended.
