Botanical Art - Beginners

This course offers an introduction to the disciplines required for Botanical Illustration work. The focus is upon the development of drawing applied to the careful observation of plants. Students will benefit from the warmly supportive atmosphere which the course offers, to develop skills and some grounding in the study of plants and their structures., , By the end of this course you should be able to:, , Use a work journal to record your personal development., Draw botanical subjects using a range of media and techniques., Use line, tonal gradation, texture and pattern to a basic level., Recognise and respond to the work of other botanical artists, Work to health and safety guidelines, Beginners or those with a little experience. It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own 'shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices.If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
