Learn how to draw and paint the human form. The course will explore a range of drawing concepts including proportion, scale, modelling of form, the figure in space, perspective and foreshortening. You will use a range of drawing and painting media, e.g. pencil, charcoal, ink, watercolour, acrylic, and consider the formal elements of line, tone and colour in your work. The model will be posed nude., , By the end of this course you should be able to:, , Make studies of the human body using a range of drawing and painting techniques., Select and use appropriate drawing and painting media and materials., Produce life studies that demonstrate an awareness of scale, perspective and proportion., Experiment with different drawing and painting materials to extend your range of options., Recognise the styles and techniques of fine artists who have worked from the human form., Work to health and safety guidelines., , There is no homework requirement for this course. Beginners and those with some experience of drawing from the life model. It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.

However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound, and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own 'shops' where you are able to buy materials at competitive prices. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
