Patchwork, Quilting and Applique for the Home

This Textile course will introduce you to the crafts of Patchwork, Quilting and Appliqué. This absorbing hobby enables you to learn basic sewing skills to make colourful cushions, table runners and small quilts. A basic sewing machine is useful but not essential as both hand sewing and machine sewing will be covered during the course. You can make a cushion or small bag initially before moving on to more challenging projects. , By the end of the course you will be able to:, Use paper templates to construct a variety of patchwork shapes. , Make samples of several different styles of patchwork blocks , Apply simple fabric shapes both by hand and machine, Decorate small household items with any of the above techniques or a combination of them, Understand and demonstrate the construction elements of a quilt, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, , Suitable for Beginners who would like to learn the basic skills to make a Patchwork Quilt. , It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. Please bring a notebook, pencil and basic sewing kit to the first session where the equipment requirements for the course wil be discussed.
