Floristry - Celebrate with Flowers

This practical course will introduce you to the art of arranging flowers to celebrate with. You will need to bring your own floristry scissors or secateurs, flowers, greenery and mechanics (that's flower foam, containers and so on - some of these will be available to buy from the tutor, by prior arrangement). This course is offered in partnership with Julie Davies Flower Workshops., , Learn how to:, , • condition/prepare flowers for use, ensuring their longevity, • design and create and arrangement in a basket - for a new baby, • design and create an arrangement in a box - to celebrate a new house, • design and create an arrangement in a shoe - to celebrate a significant birthday, , Students should budget £10-15 per session for flowers. Buying flowers from the supermarket and supplementing these with greenery from your garden is a cost effective way of providing the necessary course materials., , Mechanics will be available to purchase week by week from the tutor - floral foam, dishes, and so on., Anyone with an interest in flower arranging.

Scissors, Flowers, greenery and mechanics - to be advised on a week by week basis, Notebook and pen (optional), Camera (optional), , WEEK 1 - We'll be creating an arrangement in a basket - for a new baby. You will need to bring:, , Flowers: , , 4 focal flowers - such as 4 roses, or 4 carnations, 3 stems of multi-stemmed flower - such as chrysanthemums or a bunch of spray carnation, 3 stems of a filler flower - such as gyp, Greenery - from your garden, or your florist - bring a mix of eucalyptus, ivy, hebe and pittosporum (or similar), , Think pinks or blues …, , If you're lucky, you'll find this all in a mixed supermarket bunch.
