Digital Photography - Basic Controls and Compositions

This short course aims to help you develop your basic understanding of photography. Achieving pleasing images is our goal, so we will explore what makes a visual impact on the viewer and how you can achieve this with the camera you use. This will involve learning about how the camera works and the steps taken to achieve a final image in print, or on a screen. We will also consider care and maintenance issues for your camera. We will use the local area for some practical photography. Computer editing/darkroom skills are not covered on this course.At the end of the course students will be able to, - Describe how a camera produces a correctly exposed image. , - Produce a range of images demonstrating at least five different visual compositions., - Describe and explain key terms and features by creating your own glossary., - Identify image faults and ways of correcting these. It is open to owners of digital cameras who would like to be able to understand the basics of cameras and how to take pleasing images.,

Entry requirements

A working camera, if possible with its manual. Please ensure your batteries are fully charged and if possible, bring spares. An empty/formatted memory card /films as appropriate. Pen and paper.
