Jewellery Making - Beginners

Explore your creativity and learn how to design and make jewellery. , On this course you will learn the basic skills of jewellery-making by watching demonstrations and completing simple projects. These skills include cutting, drilling, shaping and joining copper or silver., By the end of the course you should be able to:, Cut, drill and form sheet metal and wire, Anneal, texture and solder metal, Finish surfaces and edges, Make simple findings , Design and make a piece of jewellery from start to finish, Be aware of and work to health and safety guidelines, This course is for anyone interested in the Craft of Silversmithing whether you are a beginner or experienced in using metal as all levels of experience are welcome. , It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Progamme Manager.

Entry requirements

You will need to bring an A4 sketch pad, stationary, apron, hair pin/tie for long hair, wear closed in shoes and money to buy silver, copper, brass used during your projects. Tools can be bought at a later stage but all the equipment to get you started is in the Silversmithing studio. Silver, piercing blades, silver solder and emery cloths can be purchased during the class.
