Patchwork and Quilting - Beginners

This Textile course will introduce you to the vintage craft of Patchwork and Quilting. This absorbing hobby enables you to learn basic sewing skills to make colourful quilts, throws and wallhangings. A basic sewing machine is useful but not essential as both hand sewing and machine sewing will be covered during the course. You can make a cushion or small bag initially before moving on to more challenging projects. By the end of the course you will be able to:, Use a rotary cutter safely and successfully to cut accurate pattern pieces, Make samples of several different styles of patchwork blocks, Use squared and isometric paper to design your own blocks, Understand and demonstrate the construction elements of a quilt, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines
