Floristry - Introduction

This practical course will introduce you to the art of flower arranging. You will need to bring your own floristry scissors or secateurs, flowers, greenery and mechanics (that's flower foam, containers and so on - some of these will be available to buy from the tutor, by prior arrangement). , , Learn how to:, , • condition/prepare flowers for use, ensuring their longevity, • design and create a table arrangement in floral foam, • arrange a vase of flowers, • create a hand tied posy of flowers, , This is a partnership course delivered by Fabulous Flowers., There is no qualification for this course., , , There is limited parking on site, but there is a public car park nearby and on-street parking. Anyone with an interest in flowers, whether or not they have a wedding on the horizon!

Entry requirements

Students should budget £10-15 per session for flowers. Buying flowers from the supermarket and supplementing these with greenery from your garden is a cost effective way of providing the necessary course materials., , Mechanics will be available to purchase week by week from the tutor - floral foam, dishes, and so on., , Things to bring:, Scissors, Flowers, greenery and mechanics - to be advised on a week by week basis, Notebook and pen (optional), Camera (optional), , Week 1 , , We will be making a table arrangement in floral foam. You will need to bring:, , Flowers: , , 4 focal flowers - such as 4 roses, or 4 carnations, 3 stems of multi-stemmed flower - such as 3 chrysanthemums or a bunch of spray carnation, 3 stems of a filler flower - such as gyp, Greenery - from your garden, or your florist - bring a mix of eucalyptus, ivy, hebe and pittisporum (or similar), , If you're lucky you'll find this all in a mixed supermarket bunch.
