The wonderful world of herbs is revealed in this popular Try me session., Herbs are where medicine began! Herbal medicine dates back to ancient times and many of the modern medicines used today have their origins in plants, such as aspirin (willow bark), chemotherapy (yew, periwinkle), malaria drugs (cinchona tree) and morphine (poppies). Even today, the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that nearly 80% of the world's population still use traditional herbal medicine as their main form of medicine., , Our tutor, Vanessa, has been involved in the study and use of medicinal plants for nearly 10 years. Vanessa is a qualified western Medical Herbalist, an organic gardener and a beekeeper. She is also clinically and professionally trained, with an honours degree in Herbal Medicine and practising in Sevenoaks, Kent. Anyone with an interest in herbs and health.
