This Guitar course builds on the knowledge acquired in the beginner's course, but is suitable for anybody who is reasonably proficient at playing chords and would like to take their playing to the next level. It concentrates on developing melodic skills looking at the typical 'decorations' used by guitarists in most forms of popular music. You will look at the two most often used scales that form the basis of guitar solos and the 'licks' and 'fills' based on them. By the end of the course, you will have a good grasp on the fundamentals of improvising solos, or 'lead' guitar playing in a range of styles from pop, rock, blues and country music., To benefit fully from this course, students are advised to practice the exercises and pieces in their own time. Students who have completed a Beginners course or who have relevant experience.
