This History - Early Modern Kent - From Roses to Reformation' course in Maidstone will enable you to consider what it is like to live in Kent during the reigns of the Plantagenet and Tudor monarchs and what part was played by the people of Kent in our nation's early modern story? This course will explore everyday life of the 1400s - 1600s, examining issues such as religion, politics and culture as well as the domestic realities of housing, food and clothing. We will discuss and compare some of the county's key industries and examine how Kent made its living; from where, or what, it gathered its prosperity and the ways in which this little corner was linked to Europe and the wider world. We will also consider this county's capacity for originality and rebellion and investigate those individuals who led - or drove - Kent through this turbulent period of its life., , By the end of this course, you should be able to:, , • Outline the history of Kent from c.1450-1650 , • Describe everyday life for the people of Kent during this period, • Explain what were the key trades/industries of the period, • Identify key figures from the period and describe their roles in the county's story, • Debate the position/role of Kent in national and/or international affairs during this time,
