Photography - SLR - Further Skills

This Photography course aims to further develop an awareness of photographic principles and consists of a mixture of theoretical, technical and practical experience. The course will provide a a further grounding in camera theory; you will learn to use explore photographic composition, experience processing and printing in the darkroom and discover the potential of imaging with Adobe Photoshop. The course is highly flexible and will be tailored to suit the needs of the students and also include a critical and historical element to understand photographys place in Art history. You will be given a small photographic project each week to enable you to develop your image making throughout the course. , By the end of the course you will be able to:, Utilise both exposure and flash compensation modes, Experiment with different lens to see which ones are most appropriate for Portrait/Landscape and Still Life , Use Camera Raw to do initial tonal/colour correction and Photoshop Elements to make additional changes to their images, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, , , , Those with some experience or those who have undertaken the Foundation level Photography course., If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Programme Manager before you enrol.

Entry requirements

A Digital or 35mm SLR camera with some degree of manual control, a notebook and pencil. Film and photographic paper costs will be funded by you and no more than £10. Please do not buy equipment for the course without speaking to the tutor at the first lesson or before the course starts.
