This Pottery course at the Tunbridge Wells centre for beginners will guide you through the whole process of making objects in clay through demonstrations of hand-building, throwing and glazing tecniques. You will learn slabbing, pinching, coiling and basic throwing skills on the potters' wheel. There will be an opportunity for you to achieve different decorative effects through personalised projects. You will be shown how glazes are made and the various effects that can be made using them. You will be expected to do some research towards your projects at home. This could be collecting images or drawing out your ideas., By the end of the course you will be able to:, Use moulds to create shape and roll out slabs using accurate measurements for construction , Understand and demonstrate the different types of clay and firing temperatures you could use, Design and develop a type of embellishment for your pot, Select the appropriate tools to use for the relevant building technique, and be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines., , , , Anyone interested in using clay to make pots or 3 dimensional forms both beginners and those with more experience., It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.
