Digital Photography - Portraits

This course is aimed at photographers who have beginner to intermediate level experience with digital photography. During the course of this 1 day workshop students will be shown how to use the correct settings as well as how to position subjects in order to achieve high quality portraits. There will be the opportunity (weather dependent) to photograph indoors with natural light, an introduction to flash photography and how to photograph people outside. By the end of the course students should have a small collection of pictures that they can take home and use as benchmarks for further improvement., , By the end of this course, you should be able to:, , • Produce a series of portraits, • Use and adjust Aperture settings in order to maximise the effect of Depth of Field, • Frame and compose portraits, , There is no qualification for this course., , There is limited parking on site, but there is a public car park nearby and on-street parking. Anyone with a basic knowledge of using a digital camera (not a complete beginner). It would be beneficial if students had attended at least a basic digital photography course but those who prefer to use the auto settings are welcome too. Although the course is not specifically designed to cover smartphones, there would still be plenty of scope to learn the basic techniques of taking more effective outdoor scenes.

Please do not buy anything especially for this course before it starts. All students will need either a DSLR or advanced Bridge Camera (with Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and Manual settings - A,S,M on the mode wheel) as well as USB cable or card reader.
