Tai Chi ("tie chee") is a holistic exercise system which combines relaxation and toning movements with internal work to promote health and harmony in mind, body and spirit. Students will follow the slow and deliberate practice of traditional tai chi steps leading to personal development while gaining appreciation of supporting theory, philosophy and applications. Partner work and supporting exercise will add variety and fun to classes. , , This taster class provides students with an opportunity to try out Tai Chi before committing to our longer courses., , Please take a moment to consider the list below. If you have suffered from any of the conditions listed, please check with a medical practitioner whether it is suitable for you to undertake an exercise programme and bring a referral letter from your doctor to your tutor. If you have not checked, or if it is not suitable, please do not participate in this class., , - Do you ever have pains in your chest?, - Have you had any operations or injuries in the last year?, - Do you often feel faint or have spells of dizziness?, - Are you receiving medication for any condition?, - Do you have high blood pressure?, - Do you have a bone or joint problem, such as Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Back or knee, problems? , , If you have a disability and think it may affect your learning in the classroom, or using any of our other services, please speak to us in confidence as soon as possible. Entry requirements

You will need supportive, comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement. Denim jeans, formal trousers, skirts or dress are not suitable for this activity. You should wear shoes with a soft sole. Sandals, boots or any footwear with a high heel are not recommended. You may be advised not to take part if you are not dressed appropriately., , Students may wish to bring a towel.
