Watercolour - Summer School

This course starts with the basics techniques and skills of watercolour through to how to compose a painting. Learn how to use wet on wet, what brushes to use, where to use masking fluid and how to mix colours to your best advanatage. Drawing skills will be emphasised alongside an historical appreciation to the projects set. As the course progresses individual styles will be encouraged. By the end of the course you will be able to:, Demonstrate progression in observation and representational drawing skills , Use a wide range of tonal values, Display understanding of colour theory and be able to mix a wide range of colours, Lay and overlay washes , Use a range of techniques including wet in wet and wet on dry , Plan a composition using one or more sources, Beginners or those with a some experience of working in Waterolour paint., It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another adult please ask to speak to the Programme Manager before you enrol.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, you should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements.
