This course covers different hand building techniques such as pinching, coiling and slabbing. It also covers basic throwing and turning skills. You will be encouraged to make and experiment using a combination of these techniques. You will also be taught different decoration techniques to apply colour using slip, glaze and oxides., , By the end of this course you should be able to:, , Understand and use a variety of hand building skills (coiling, pinching, soft and hard slab building, press moulding) to an appropriate level, , Make a variety of thrown forms that demonstrate development of throwing skills, , Use a variety of surface decorating and glazing techniques to an appropriate level, , Be aware of and work to health and safety guidelines., , Beginners and those with some experience. It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak to the programme manager before you enrol.

Entry requirements

Please wear old clothes and shoes. All pots are paid for by fired weight at a reasonable rate. Health and safety issues will be discussed and you will be instructed in the application of safe working practices.
