Students will learn a range of woodworking techniques using hand tools including making simple joints and applying finishes. The course will cover identifying different types of wood, how to handle and treat them and the best use for each type. You will complete a project working at a level and pace you are comfortable with., , At the end of the course you should be able to:, -Take and transfer measurements accurately., - Safely cut wood using a hand saw., - Make a finger joint., - Safely use a chisel. Beginners or those with some experience of woodwork, projects will be provided to extend the knowledge of all learners whatever their ability.

Please bring any hand tools you have to the first session. We have a wide range of tools available to use and the tutor will be able to advise you if there is anything specific you need to buy. , You will need to buy the wood for your project which will either be available to buy through the centre or a local supplier, the tutor will advise you in the first class.
