Chinese Brush Painting

The course will introduce the traditional materials and techniques of Chinese Brush Painting in the Spontaneous style. It will include the use of Chinese calligraphy and seals to complete a painting, where appropriate. More experienced students will learn to develop their work., , By the end of the course, you should be able to:, • Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines , • Demonstrate and understand relevant techniques., • Demonstrate successful use of relevant tools, equipment and resources., • Successfully review and evaluate your own work., • Research and evaluate the work of others to inform your own work and development, , There is no set 'homework', but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home., There is no qualification for this course., , , There is limited parking on site, but there is a public car park nearby and on-street parking. For beginners and for those who have previous experience of the subject, including those who have studied with this tutor before.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials, please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Please do not buy anything specifically for the course before it begins, but if you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate, please bring them with you to the first session. Complete beginners will be provided with materials for the first couple of lessons, with the exception of paper, which can be bought from the tutor. To complete the course, students will need to spend about £20 - £25 on materials; the tutor will give advice about this. Please wear an apron or old clothes, as the ink does not wash out.
