This course aims to develop your skills in drawing and painting and enrich your ability to create expressive work in different media and projects. We begin by looking primarily at drawing, exploring the practical steps in interpreting subject matter through line, tone, texture and form. As you progress you will learn how to use colour and look at the basics of composition and design. You will be encouraged to explore your own chosen painting and drawing mediums (not oil paint), and to develop an individual responses to thematically based work based on a variety of subject matter which may include still life, flowers, natural objects and landscapes . This course allows those students with some experience to further develop their skills. The course will include some life drawing., By the end of the course you should be able to:, Make drawings and paintings exploring a range of materials and methods (charcoal, ink, pastel as appropriate) to an appropriate level., Demonstrate use of tone line and form to model your subject and understand the role light plays in describing form., Demonstrate application of painting techniques and principles of colour mixing relevant to the subject to an appropriate level., Demonstrated awareness of health and safety relevant to the course., Students who have completed the Beginners course or have some experience.It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity for you to participate fully and get the most out of the course.
