One of the aims of this course is to provide an entry qualification route so that you can apply for an Apprenticeship in Farriery. Gaining an Apprenticeship in Farriery can be difficult and having basic skills in blacksmithing, welding and equine knowledge can greatly enhance your chances of success. You will cover a diverse range of topics throughout your course. A selection of unit titles are: Blacksmithing: the processes of forging, forming, cutting and joining comprising the foundation of all blacksmithing skills; Blacksmithing: the production of tools required for the course; Welding: the application of welding processes; Health and safety: the relevant statutory requirements for business and employees with specific reference to farriery; Equine Studies: equine biology, horse handling and behaviour
