Level 3 Access to HE Diploma Humanities

The Access to HE Diploma is a standard, nationwide qualification at Level 3, which is designed to enable learners from non-traditional educational backgrounds to go to University. The Diploma is made up of a number of units which result in a total of 60 credits, 45 at Level 3 and 15 at Level 2. The Access to HE Humanities and Teaching Programme covers a number of modules, which learners choose from in order to create a programme suitable for their progression requirements. The Modules are English Literature, Ancient History, Modern World History, Teaching, and Politics. English Literature This course will cover the following genres: * The Short Story * The Novel * Shakespeare * Poetry * Modern Drama These modules will provide you with the skills you will need to evaluate all aspects of English Literature History The course includes the following modules: Ancient History: Greece: The Classical Period Rome: The Collapse of the Republic Rome: Romans in Britain Modern World History: The Korean War The Cuban Missile Crisis The American Revolution: American Civil War Rise of the Nazis The Spanish Civil War There will be opportunities to study primary and secondary sources in order to build up sufficient skills to assess the validity of historical evidence. Usually, Humanities based students take political history, while teaching students take the teaching units.
