Economics AS

UPDATED 20160806 13:52:54

The course does not follow on directory from any subjects you took at GCSE. A good foundation in English and Maths, and appreciation of the skills taught in History, Religious Studies or Geography, will help students start soundly on the way to economic enlightenment. Students will look to develop the knowledge and skills needed to understand and analyse data, think critically about issues and make informed decisions. They will also build upon their skills and appreciate that, when evaluating, quantative evidence is important. Through this course students will be encouraged to develop an understanding of economic concepts and theories, through critical consideration of current economic issues, to appreciate their value and limitations in explaining real world events. At AS students will develop an understanding of, and an insight into, micro and macro economics. At A2, students will study the impact of globalisation on UK economic performance and the effect of European Union memberships and economic policy on the UK economy.
