The BTEC Level 3 Certificate offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of the art and design industry. It is a qualification which can extend a learner’s programme of study and give a vocational emphasis. It is equivalent to one GCE AS level. The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma extends the specialist work-related focus of the Level 3 Cer cate and covers key knowledge and prac cal skills required in the art and design industry. It o ers greater exibility and a choice of emphasis through optional units. It is equivalent to one GCE A2 level. If you have developed effective ways of working in Art and/or Design Technology at GCSE, you will find this course a natural progression. You should be interested in learning about and applying the working methods used by professionals and the issues facing professionals working in the art and design industry. You will learn what is involved in working as a professional artist and designer and how to develop your own personal skills and approach to art and design. You will also learn how to work as an individual, or in a team, or with clients, commissioners and audiences. You learn to undertake creative and reflective experimentation with media and materials in response to a brief and be able to communicate your ideas in a clear and professional way.
