This course is a mixed ability painting class and all levels are welcome.This course mixes exciting elements of art history with practical art tuition in order to research and study the famous portraits from the past right up to the present. You will then be supported in learning the techniques used and how to replicate them for your own enjoyment. You will have the opportunity to investigate: The purpose of portraits in art, politics & religion. Different schools in portraiture. The impact of modernism, cubism and surrealism. Personal drawing and mix media skills.No previous experience is necessary as full tuition will be given. If you have previous experience in painting you are also welcome to join as you can build on your existing skills.This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course. You do not have to have any experience in the subject but should be over 60 and living alone to join this course. Other courses at the next level may be offered by Skills & Learning or other local providers.
