This course covers all aspects of childrens development and how you can support learning activities within the classroom. You will develop your knowledge and understanding, and also demonstrate your competence in relation to pupil welfare, care, behaviour and learning. With the other learners in your class, you will cover the following units: Child and young person development Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people Schools as Organisations Help improve own and team practice in schools Maintain and support relationships with children and young people Support children and young peoples health and safety Support children and young peoples positive behaviour Support learning activitiesA variety of learning activities will be used on this course, including tutor presentation and demonstration, practical application of skills, individual and group work, discussions, Q&A, internet research, individual research and project work. Where relevant, your learning will enable you to develop skills and knowledge required for work. There may be vocational specialist guest speakers, or employers, invited to share their skills and experience. Regular home study will be necessary to successfully complete this course. You will be supported to develop good study skills Your tutor will also support you to improve your English and maths skills alongside your learning of your vocational subject. This will include assessing your current skills and planning learning activities related to your subject that are designed to develop your skills in these areas. To support this, you will undertake some e-learning modules, where appropriate, as homework.This is a vocational course leading to a qualification, and the cost of it is subsidised by public funding. Name: Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools - City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate Qualification title: Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Once completed, your work will be marked and internally verified. An external verifier from the awarding body will visit to review your work before you receive your certificate. As soon as your certificate is received by Skills&Learning it will be forwarded to you. Assignments/Course work: You will build a portfolio of evidence which may include observations, oral and written questions, case studies, witness statements and photographic evidence. Your tutor will need to arrange to visit you in your placement to carry out a minimum of 3 observations of you working with the children. It is not always possible to do these in your normal placement timeslot so you may need to arrange with the school to support in additional sessions for this, or in sessions on alternative days. You will negotiate a Personal Learning Plan with your tutor identifying the areas you need to develop; this will be reviewed at regular intervals.
