Higher Apprenticeships work towards work based learning qualifications such as NVQ Level 4 and in some cases a knowledge based qualification such as a Foundation degree. All Apprenticeships include the following elements. A work based competency qualification such as an NVQ Diploma A technical qualification relevant to the specific Apprenticeship Any other qualifications or requirements as specified by the particular occupation Functional Skills qualifications in Maths English and ICT or equivalent as appropriate Personal Learning and Thinking Skills Employee Rights and Responsibilities On the job and off the job training The competency qualification in this apprenticeship is the Diploma in professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals (level 4) The Knowledge qualifications available are, Foundation Degree in Computing IT or Telecommunications. Higher National Certificate in Computing and Systems Development (level 4). Higher National Diploma in Computing and Systems Development (level 5). Diploma Mandatory Units. Health and Safety in ICT (3 credits) Develop own effectiveness and professionalism (12 credits) Optional Units. A further 65 optional units which can be chosen to meet the needs of the employer and learner.
