ESOL Study Programme Entry 1

This is a basic level full time course for 15 19 year olds who have recently come to live in the UK and for whom English is not their first language. This course is particularly helpful for those students who may not have completed their education in the country of origin. This is the 2nd stage of our ESOL PLUS courses. Learners will study English within topic based contexts that are relevant to young people e.g. sport leisure and popular culture. We will develop their speaking listening reading and writing skills so that they can feel confident communicating and responding appropriately in real life situations. Study skills are developed to allow learners to progress to higher level courses. Additional support is offered for students with low levels of literacy and those who may not have completed their education in the country of origin. Numeracy ICT and citizenship are embedded in the course. A wide range of classroom activities are used including communication games project work audio visual and computer based learning. A varied tutorial and enrichment programme covers issues relevant to young people and includes a number of interesting and challenging day trips and activities.
