You will work in class on your industry knowledge and utilise your practical skills in our own industry standard salon. You will explore current practices in customer care within the hair and beauty sector and you will also study the relevant laws, legislations and regulations. If you are interested in following the hair pathway, you will study the following: - Shampoo and Conditioning - Styling Women's Hair - Styling Men's Hair - Salon Reception Duties - The Art of Dressing Hair - The Art of Colouring Hair If you are interested in following the beauty pathway, you will study the following: - Skin Care - Themed Face Painting - Nail Art - Providing Basic Manicure Treatment - Providing Basic Pedicure Treatment - Basic Make-up Application - The Art of Photographic Make-up. All students will also study the following units: - Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector - Presenting a Professional Image in a Salon - Follow Health and Safety in the Salon - Working with Others - Salon Reception Duties - Create a Hair and Beauty Image - Create an Image using Colour in the Hair and Beauty Sector It should be noted that you will be timetabled for additional work related activities that may be off campus. If you have not yet achieved a grade C (or above) in GCSE English and maths, you will be required to attend GCSE resit sessions (if you achieved grade D) or functional skills sessions (if you achieved grade E or below).
