SPORT & ACTIVE LEISURE CERTIFICATE LEVEL 1 (FOOTBALL ACADEMY PATHWAY)

Football Academy Pathway: Havering Football Academy has partnered with professional League 2 team Cambridge United Football Club. Training and games for the Football Academy is regularly monitored by the academy head of recruitment. You will receive 9 hours of coaching from FA UEFA qualified coaches and compete in games weekly in addition to key content from the Sport Pathway below. Each player will need to pay approximately £200 on enrolment their training kit and their match day tracksuit. Sport Pathway: The course will involve looking at areas directly related to the sports industry. You will study units such as anatomy and physiology, the physiology of fitness, sports coaching and psychology. In addition to developing your academic skills the course will also aim to improve your self-discipline, time management and fitness. The course is 5 days a week and involves formal lectures, workshops, discussions and individual research for coursework. You will also take part in practical assignments and train in three separate 3 hour training sessions. In training you will work on different technical elements of your game and work on improving the team as a whole. All students will also be required to carry out work based learning throughout the year via work placements or volunteering. These hours may be included within your timetable, but can also be arranged outside of your timetable. All students who join the course with a grade D in Maths and/or English Language will be required to take a GCSE re-sit. All students that have a grade E or below in Maths and/or English Language will be required to attend compulsory functional skills lessons each week.
