The level 2 qualification typically comprises of the following core units: Health, safety and welfare in Construction (this unit can be carried forward from Level 1) and Principles of building construction, information and communication. The following subject specialist units are also studied: Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures, Producing thin joint masonry and masonry cladding, building solid walling, isolated and attached piers, Constructing cavity walling forming masonry structures. English and maths will be undertaken, either Functional Skills or GCSE dependant on prior achievement and will form a significant part of your timetable. Employability skills will be developed and learners will undertake Work Experience as part of their Study Programme.
