The course is a modular programme offering you the opportunity of an in depth study into the fashion and textile industry. Students will be instructed in basic fashion illustration fashion design techniques and fabric recognition. You will also develop a range of skills including pattern making and garment construction as they expand their knowledge base. Optional units allow students to also undertake textile design embroidered textiles and 3D constructed textiles. Assignments are varied and creative covering futuristic design club wear historical influences creative conceptions and art movements are completed using traditional and digital techniques. All BTEC Extended Diploma students will complete a diagnostic first semester to include general arts skills e.g. life drawing and painting. Alongside the core fashion units you will study and develop skills in Design Principles History of Art and Design (including studies of Fashion Designers) Painting and drawing and The Use of Computers in Art and Design.
