The course combines practical training with some basic engineering theory. The practical work is carried out in our own training workshop using industry standard equipment, and matches the requirements of ‘off the job’ training for an engineering apprenticeship. Trainees are in a strong position when seeking an apprenticeship due to our links with industry in Swindon and the surrounding area. The course covers the following units; Compulsory Units, Working Safely and Effectively in Engineering, Interpreting and Using Engineering Information, Mathematics for Engineering Technicians, Mechanical/Electrical Units, Selecting and Using Secondary Machining Techniques to Remove Material, Engineering Marking Out, Using Computer Aided Drawing Techniques in Engineering, Application of Welding, Electronic Circuit Construction.
