Tailoring

UPDATED 20160630 09:39:33

You will learn how to make tailored garments using traditional and modern techniques, including how and where to use canvas & fusible interfacings. Emphasis will be placed on choosing suitable styles and fabrics, pattern adaptation and fitting, as well as ideas for creating professional finishes for garments. You will create a reference folder of sample techniques, which will include hand stitches, buttonholes, pockets, zips & decorative finishes. All learners will work on their own individual garment projects with guidance from the tutor, and depending upon your level of experience it should be achievable in a 10 week class to complete a skirt, trousers, or waistcoat. More complex garments such as a jackets or coats will require considerably more time- and you should ensure that you enrol for at least a second class to be able to complete your garment.
