The BTEC Higher National Diploma in General Engineering (QCF) delivered by Trafford College is a Level 5 qualification that has been designed to meet the increasing demand from industry for Professional Engineers and Technicians. Building upon previous studies, the HND General Engineering will enhance knowledge and understanding of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, ensuring a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required. It is equivalent to the first two years of study at university degree level and upon completion, graduates will be equipped with the theoretical knowledge and practical insight to confidently pursue a full career in engineering or gain a university top-up for a full degree. The course has been developed to focus on: - The education and training of future engineers & technicians who will be employed at a professional level in various engineering industries, including: systems design, manufacture, maintenance and technical services industries. - Providing opportunities for full-time learners to gain a nationally recognised qualification to enter employment as an Engineer or Technician, or progress to full- or part-time university degree in engineering. - Providing opportunities to develop higher level skills in a technological and management context, whilst developing a range of skills, techniques and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. The HND General Engineerijng programme will be completed over two academic years; each year having 34-academic weeks. High quality directed study is supported by various learning resources and through the Virtual Learning Environment, which will enable independent study to be carried out at your convenience.
