This is a one year course that will provide students with the developing knowledge or sporting disciplines. This course is designed to develop leadership skills and to build social and personal skills in preparation for a career in the sports industry. Topics include fitness components/testing, healthy lifestyles, promoting safety in sport and activity environments including the safeguarding of children, participating in sport and understanding the sports and leisure sector. Students will also take part in work experience placements at local primary/secondary schools developing their leadership and coaching skills as part of this qualification. Over the one year period you will study the following units: 1. Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People in Sport and Active Leisure 2. Health & Safety and Welfare in Sport and Active Leisure 3. Participating in Sport 4. Injuries in Sport 5. Factors Affecting Participation in Sport and Physical Activity 6. Leading a Healthy Lifestyle 7. Plan, Deliver and Evaluate Sport and Leisure Activities 8. Physical Preparation for Sports Performance 9. Understanding the Active Leisure and Learning Sector 10. People Skills in Sport and Active Leisure
