This Study Programme consists of a number of practical units which allows you to develop the skills you will need, including English and Maths and other subjects, which may include Pneumatics, Engineering, Science or Renewable Technologies. There are also mandatory theory units assessed by examination. This Programme is designed for those who have an interest in or are already employed in the industry as a welder or fabricator. You will study the basic principles of fabrication and welding technology and acquire and develop practical skills in different types of welding techniques and processes. This Programme will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification and the skills to progress within the welding and fabrication industry. You will learn how to produce a tee fillet weld in the PA flat position, and a corner weld in the PA flat position, as well as how to conduct two root bend tests through 90 degrees at 5x magnification, and one nick-break fracture test from your 50mm section to include stop/start positions. You will also develop the knowledge to stop and start the root run within the middle 50mm of the joint.
