The Apprenticeship is a programme of vocational education and training whereby you will develop your skills whilst learning on the job, building up your knowledge and experience, gaining qualifications and earning money all at the same time. The programme includes the AAT level 2 Certificate in Accounting which comprises six mandatory units. The apprentice will also undertake functional skills in Mathematics and English at level one, together with a technical certificate, which provides underpinning knowledge for the Certificate in Accounting. The level 2 Certificate in Accounting (minimum 27 credits) consists of: Basic Accounts one (6 credits), Basic Accounts two (7 credits) Basic Costing (6 credits), Computerised accounting (3 credits), Working effectively in Accounting/Finance (2 credits), Professional Ethics in Accounting/Finance (3 credits), Functional skills in Mathematics Level one (5 credits), Functional skills in English Level one (5 credits) and a Technical certificate. This requires the completion of the FSP Apprentice workbook incorporating the outcomes for "employee rights and responsibilities". The Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) of "Self management" and "reflective learning" are implicitly covered within the same workbook.
