Woodcarving Summer Course: All Abilities

Experienced woodcarvers will learn how to make a verre eglomise panel and beginners will make a flower. Techniques used include: making a maquette in clay using a scallop shell as a model, casting the model in plaster of Paris and using the plaster cast as the maquette to carve into the wood.

Entry requirements

1. Pencil. 2. All tools provided. 3. Bring any gouges you already own but do not buy any if you are unsure. 4. A cheap set will be a waste of money. For inspiration have a look at "Nature Transformed. Wood Art from the Bohlen Collection". ISBN 1-930561-08-3 (Tutor will bring in his copy). "Essential woodcarving Techniques" Dick Onians.
