Discover the fascinating and ancient craft of hand bookbinding and restoration. Learn simple procedures from binding paper backs and journals leading to the more skilled art of leather binding and gold leaf tooling. Students will be able to make leather or cloth bound books with gold leaf and restore old books or family heirlooms.

Name: Bookbinding Qualification title: Non regulated Community Learning provision, Crafts, Creative Arts and Design Qualification type: Assessment A friendly relaxed workshop atmosphere exists in the class and students can work at their own pace. Demonstrations and presentations will be offered on a regular basis. The tutor will be available each session to support individuals' projects where necessary. Entry requirements

1. Students should bring scissors. 2. Pencil. 3. Notebook. Most equipment required will be available at the class. Materials and small tools can be purchased from the tutor. Students will need to purchase simple tools: bone (or Teflon) folder, craft knife & metal ruler. A contribution of £5-£10 per student will be required for consumables (e.g. Glue, paste, board, paper). Book lists and suppliers details will be provided by the tutor.
