Media: Creative Digital Technologies - Diploma (level 3) (2nd Yr) - 9hrs

UPDATED 20160623 12:24:11

This is a new Media option delivered as a reaction to the growing creative industries and their cultural influence upon popular culture. This particular pathway will suit students wishing to pursue interests and career prospects in the 'online' digital environment as well as more technology-based solutions within the creative industries. The Cambridge Technicals are a new generation of vocational courses developed through the exam board OCR's links with the University of Cambridge. They are aimed at people who enjoy learning in a practical, work-related way and have been designed to provide high quality, industry recognised qualifications that acknowledge skills, knowledge and understanding of the sector, together with the settings, job roles, principles and values involved. Twelve units are completed over two years with an emphasis on undertaking practical assignments to evidence your understanding. The 12 units studied are diverse and span a range of Media and IT pathways including Web Authoring and Design, Graphic Design, Social Media products, Animation and exploration of the Games Industry. You will find a Cambridge Technicals Media course to be both rewarding and challenging as you gain new skills and develop further those that you already have in an atmosphere that reflects the 'real world' rather than a classroom. Much of the learning takes place within dedicated Apple Mac rooms where creativity is at the forefront of all that you produce. Assessment is through a combination of coursework and exams (up to 60% of final marks) and requires the ability to work to tight deadlines. From the very beginning of the course you are assessed at A Level standard so expectations are high, but you will receive excellent support from the dedicated team members who deliver the course.
