The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in IT is a vocational course, so you are assessed on skills that are transferable to the workplace as well as higher education. The BTEC Level 3 Information Technology units are aimed at people who enjoy learning in a practical, work-related way. The syllabus includes units which will develop your communication and employability skills for IT which, as well as helping you to be successful in your other subjects, will also prepare you for higher education and/or employment. Six units are completed over two years with an emphasis on undertaking practical assignments to evidence your understanding. The six units studied are diverse and span a range of office based and creative IT areas including Website Production, Software Installation and Upgrade, Digital Graphics and Animation. You will find this course to be both rewarding and challenging as you gain new skills and develop further those that you already possess. The atmosphere in lessons seeks to reflect the 'real world' rather than a classroom and you will receive excellent support. Assessment is continuous and requires the ability to work to tight deadlines. From the very beginning of the course you are assessed at A Level standard so expectations are high.
