The GCSE English syllabus focuses on the spoken element of the English language and how language is used: in everyday situations - familiar language; in the work place - occupational language; and in an official capacity - language of power. You will develop understanding of how language is powerful, controlling and motivating by studying vocabulary, grammatical structure, discourse and the phonological features which identify a person's identity, status, age, occupation and education.
