Who is the course for? Students considering a career in Art & Design and wishing to study Architecture, Product design, Interior design or 3D Design What can it lead to? You could progress onto a Degree and a career in Architecture, Product Design, Interior Design or Theatre and Set design. You could also progress onto a foundation course. What will I study? This course will develop your understanding of a range of careers in 3D design such as interior design, architecture, theatre design and product design. The course will prepare you for entrance to a relevant degree and we will help you develop a successful portfolio for your interview as well as helping you to manage your UCAS application process. Past students have gained entrance to a range of prestigious degree courses in many different areas of Architecture and Design. You will learn skills that Universities really value and skills that will enable you to compete for degree places successfully. You will learn to how to draw in perspective, use CAD programs to design your ideas, use Image processing packages to present your designs and Use CADCAM equipment as well as traditional model making and technical drawing techniques to produce final models. The course is equivalent to three A levels and is very varied. You will also study the history and contemporary practice of design. You'll explore a range of ideas within 3D and you'll learn through practical and critical activities to express and gain knowledge of the different areas within 3D, by creating sketchbooks full of research, ideas and development.

Name: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Architecture, Interior and Product Design Qualification title: Extended Diploma in Art and Design (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment You will complete sketchbooks and final pieces for each project, writing comments about your work and a final evaluation. These final designs will be assessed and you can achieve etiher a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade. At the end of your second year, you will complete a Final Major Project (FMP) where you have an opportunity to work more independently. Entry requirements

You will need to have art materials at home to complete your sketch books, a range of HB - 6B pencils, colouring pencils, acrylic paints and brushes.
