The programme includes seven units which cover a full range of practical and theoretical dance disciplines. The core units are The Performing Arts Industry, Performance Project and Developing Dance Skills and techniques. Optional units include Urban Dance, Choreography, Dance Showcase and Dance Historical Context. The programme is comprised of multiple and extensive community and teaching opportunities / projects. These include working with young adults with learning difficulties, individuals with physical disabilities, children, the elderly and general community events and performances.Assessment takes place regularly through performance, project participation, technical observation, independent research, written reports and essays. Attendance in the College is four days per week plus additional hours for rehearsals and performances, as appropriate.This programme is ideal for you if you wish to pursue a career in dance, whether it is behind the scenes or in the limelight! It provides an ideal opportunity to study and prepare for a range of roles within the dance industry including community dance work, entertainment staff at holiday parks and dance internships. There is the opportunity to progress to Level 3 Performing Arts: Dance or to an internship.
