This programme provides a foundation to all aspects of computing, with a strong bias towards practical study that mirrors how industry works. Learners will study a range of topics designed to give them a firm grounding in Computer Science and enable them to progress to more specialised training, such as the Level 3 Computer Science programmes. During the programme, you will learn among other things, how to create a computer network on Linux and Windows and how to create 2D animation. As a Microsoft IT Academy Program Member we are able to offer Microsoft certification alongside many of our units of study.There are two formal exams, which students will sit in addition to collecting evidence in an electronic portfolio (coursework). The programme is taught through a mixture of lectures, practical sessions and group work.What does it take to be a successful software engineer, computer animator, graphic designer or help desk support manager? In our fast paced, online world, there are many exciting opportunities in information technology, requiring a broad range of skills such as literacy, numeracy, technical, creativity, problem solving and team working skills. The Level 2 Computer Science programme provides a practical, real-world approach to learning and developing the specific knowledge and skills learners need to work successfully in the industry, such as: -Understanding the online world, services and communication, and the impact it has on business, social networking and online security -Developing technical skills by learning about hardware, software, networking and data and the relationship between them all -Using creative, communication and presentation skills when designing and producing a digital portfolio.
