This course develops your craft skills to work at recognised industrial standards within the bricklaying trade. You will learn new masonry, block work and brickwork skills as well as develop those learnt at level 1. You will gain the underpinning knowledge and skills for a career in industry. The college has close links to construction companies and has a work placement programme and construction projects where students get the opportunity to experience commercial construction work conditions.At level 2 you will study and be assessed in the following subjects: Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries Understanding information, quantities and communication with others Understanding construction technology Set out masonry structures Construct solid walling incorporating isolated and attached piers Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures Functional skills (English, mathematics and ICT)Optional Units (credit value: 4 - units required: 1)
