Human beings have always asked ultimate questions: Why am I here? Why is there so much suffering in the world? What happens when we die? For many people, religion and faith provide the explanation; for others, belief in a supreme being makes such questions even harder to answer. Either way, religion is a hugely important influence on our lives, and in-depth understanding of what and why people believe is central to understanding the modern world. On the Edexcel Religious Studies A level which incorporates philosophy and ethics you will acquire a range of skills and the knowledge to help you make sense of contemporary events. This course provides an excellent background for university study in theology, religion, philosophy, law, history and many other areas of the humanities and social sciences. A level Religious Studies will follow the new Edexcel AS and A2 Religious Studies, which covers philosophy, ethics and religion. At AS level, you will study Religion and Ethics and Philosophy of Religion from the perspectives of the major world faiths. A2 will consist of New Testament Studies and Study of Religion, which comprises in-depth of one world faith other than Christianity.
